How to install bicycle brakes?
After you have reattached the Brake Pads are now ready to re-install the brakes. To install cantilever brakes, follow these steps:
1. Apply a small amount of fat to employers, as part of the arms of the brake assembly.
2. Slide each brake arm in a boss, the small needle insertion at the end of "brake coil spring in the central hole.
3. Insert bolt pivot on the head and tighten with an Allen wrench.
4. Run the end of the cable through cable clamp, while squeezing the brake against the rim with a Hand tighten the cable fixing bolt with the other.
Bike shops often use a fourth hand tool to help tighten the brake cable.
V-brake To install, follow these steps:
1. Apply a small amount of grease to the pins.
2. Slide each brake on the pivot bolt inserting late spring brakes "spiral in the middle hole. The top hole on that side will brake more kickback and bottom hole will that minor side kickback. These are used when adjusting the adjustment spring is not enough.
3. Insert the pivot bolt head and tighten with a wrench Allen.
4. Route the cable through the curved metal tube (called a noodle) that came with the brakes.
5. Insert the metal tube with a wire cable into the slot in the cable holder until the tip is sticking out the other end and is firmly in place.
6. Insert the cable wire in the rubber boot and slide the sleeve on the tip of the metal tube.
7. Run the end of the cable through the cable clamp and, while holding and pressing the brakes against the rim with one hand, tighten the cable fixing bolt with the other.
To install the assembly center on the brakes, follow these steps:
1. Review and take note of the spacers and washers in the front and rear center mounting bolts. Sometimes moon shaped spacers that need to go next to the front and / or back part of the frame or fork. Other times, they use a nut flush with the lock washer on the side closest to the brake caliper, or just a standard nut with lock washer in the back next to the nut. The front brake usually have the center pin longer mounting.
2. Remove the nut, spacers, and washers are inside the frame or fork, and insert the center mounting bolt through the hole or the holder or the rear brake bridge.
3. Install remaining spacers and washer.
4. While holding the brakes to be centered on the rim, tighten the nut.
5. Run cable end through the stop cable jacket, then through the cable clamp and, while squeezing the brake against the rim with one hand, press the cable fixing bolt with your other hand.
6. Set your pads and make final adjustments.
7. Trim excess wire about 2 inches and put a cap on the end of the cable so it does not fray.
