Some of utility of Flex Cable

If we see it carefully it looks like a thin ribbon which is actually flex cable, as it is so flat and thin they are sometimes invisible, actually this flex cable includes a flat and thin flexible plastic and it has lots of metallic conductors connected to one surface. If we see the end of that cable it is non-breakable as it has stiffener for placing any other flex cable when one cable is damaged, actual work of stiffener is to make the cable think enough.

 Flex cables are mainly designed to manage with all those tight bending cables and for them which gets lot of outer stress while moving applications. As in automation technology the demand has increased for this type cables as they are used a lot in almost all the electronics nowadays. We all know that in some cases some of causes which are done by the screw drivers while repairing can harm this flex cables but now it is not like that how we think. This flex cable is designed with some unique features in order to differentiate from all the other standard designs. We all know that an ordinary cable hardly manages 50,000 cycles where as this flex a cable with high density manages over three million cycles. This flex cable is divided into two different types: first one is stranding in layer and the second one is stranding in bundled.

Stranding in layers

Stranding in layers is so simple in production so why it is so cheap in expense. All the cores in the cable is arranged so stranded and firmly as it is left so long in some of the layers after all this process it is being enclosed in a tube shaped plastic jacket. If we see in the shield cables it is been wrapped with the fleece or a foils. After seeing all this construction we can say that when any bending takes place all the cables that are in compresses and the outer ones will be extended or stretches as movement takes place in the cable. After all this process you will see that everything goes smoothly but one thing you should keep in mind that if the material is weak then it won’t survive longer, there are chances to get deformation.

Stranding in bundles

When there is a consistence bend in the flex cable the inner core moves very quickly to the outer core, as a result inner core will not compresses because of bend or a stretches. There is no problem to the outer core but we should take care of inner core and for that we should prevent the outer from all the twists.

A coaxial cable used in a transmission line has an inner radius of 0.25 mm and an outer radius of 0.75 mm. Calculate the capacitance per meter for the cable. Assume that the space between the conductors is filled with polystyrene. (Also assume that the outer conductor is infinitesimally thin).

For a Cylindrical Capacitor…

q = Epsilon * E * A = Epsilon * E * (2 * pi * r * L )

Solve for E then you do the integral..

V = Int ( E * ds ) from b to a… But I doubt you care about that.

so…

C = (2*Epsilon*pi*K ) / ln (b / a)

K is 2.6 for polystyrene.
