2008 raleigh mojave 8.0 or 2008 trek 6000?
iam going to buy a new mtb and i need help deciding. i can pick the raleigh up for $549 and the trek for about $700. Now the raleigh has all derore while the trek has all sram x5 stuff. Also the trk has a dart 3 fork while the raleigh has a tora 289. Now the raleigh has better comonets in my opion but idk about sram vs. shimano?. i also belive the trek would have btter resale. But what bike would you choose?
The Raleigh is better equipped. I would choose it. Forget resale since most bikes have very little value used.
You will see lots of companies replacing Shimano with SRAM because Shimano simply can’t deliver. When I spec a bike I need to determine lead times for delivery of parts so I can tell my customers when to expect their bikes… Shimano won’t provide the info so I have bee moving away from Shimano towards SRAM.
Regarding Deore vs. X5, they are functionally very similar- one isn’t better than the other, they are just different, but I like the look of SRAM better.
The Tora is a better fork than the Dart by a loooong shot.
