A lorry went in the back of my car; when I rang my insurers to make a road accident claim, they wouldn’t help. How do you prevent 1 yr. old puppy from running to the road in front of your driveway?
I used to put him on a leash. We live at the bottom floor and we have a side door that we use as easy access to leave the house.That’s where I take him out for potty because it’s the closest to the room and the backyard isn’t really an option because there are way to many stray cats and chickens (would you believe?) and he eats the chicken poop as well.So, I let him out to urinate out the side door with a leash. He’s been good at it and the last time he ran off and didn’t listen,I had to give him puppy time-out.Then,after that,he stopped running away and ignoring me so I took the leash off and let him urinate,and then come back inside the house after I say,”come here.”.But, TODAY, OMG!! He ran out to the driveway to the streets and started jumping on the big escalade and there was a CRV coming in on the other side!!I kept calling him to come over, but he didn’t respond back.He usually does, but he didn’t this time!! What do I do?For sure,I learned NOW FOR SURE to keep him on a leash.
Yes absolutely, whether your dog obeys on a consistant basis or not, he should always be on a leash for his safety, and your emotional health.
I definatley could not tolerate the death of my dog because of my own negligence, that would be way too hard for me to function.
