I have to upgrade a Shimano bottom bracket, which is consistent?
I have a Shimano bottom bracket that's taken a shit. Need to upgrade. This bike will have a lot of abuse. I would like to know which models are higher and still goes into the tank. Original model number: Shimano BB-LP27 Shell width = 68 mm shaft length = 110 mm (although my eyes, say 112, could be a rule of shit) = square taper spindles, with a hole drilled in the center to allow mounting bolt connecting rods. English thread What matches? Please be specific, I need the correct model number and brand to end. JB
The UN54 is the best replacement for the media Shimano sealed square taper lower. It would be an update on the cheapest LP27 traveling. The UN54 is a good, reliable BB for not much money, though some people are nuts about Adjustable plastic cup. IRD offers QB55 and QB75 as an appropriate update. The QB55 is little more than the $ UN54. The QB75 is a little lighter and costs $ 40. Sugino offers a similar product, too. Any of the above would be better than what we had. For most bikes today, it would JIS. Some bikes may have euro taper.
